In the end, FB is here to profit, and since their customers (the real ones) are paying them for our eyeballs, it doesn't do to have a brand not paying for ads get more exposure than a company paying for ad space.

Re: Life Just Got a Whole Lot Harder for Brands on Facebook

Same here on the first point, David. If you're a power user and in your News Feed for long periods of time, you'll see far more "Recent Stories" updates, and less of the algorithmically delivered content.

Re: Life Just Got a Whole Lot Harder for Brands on Facebook

David - thanks for dropping by! I see your point - heavy or savvy Facebook users probably will find themselves spending more time in the recent news section. I'm hesitant to say the same applies for the average Facebook user though.

As for this change leading to a decrease in likes / fans as more users work to filter their content? Interesting theory - don't disagree. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out!

Re: Life Just Got a Whole Lot Harder for Brands on Facebook

I disagree. I think that I'll be spending more time in "Recent News" more then I have in the past year or so (whenever newsfeed was introduced). Already in recent news, I've seen more "Page" content then ever before because it was in my recent news. Ultimately what will happen is people will see the pages the follow more often, I think you'll actually see a decline in "Fans" or "Likes" to a brand's page as people start to unsubscribe pages they don't really care about.

For brands this will leave a more accurate "Like" count. Overall I think the change will be beneficial for brands.

Re: New Adventures!

Congrats Colin!Good Job ..

Re: Help Me Choose a New Twitter Name!

Congratulations on having one of probably the most innovative blogs Ive come across in some time! Use fresh herbs
As when choosing plants for other applications, it's crucial that the herbs are as fresh as possible. This will maximize the fullness of the herbs' aromas. To ensure the freshness of the herbs, you could consider growing them yourself. However, if you don't live in an ideal environment for growing certain herbs, then you'll have to buy your herbs from a supplier. If you need to do that, then verify that the herbs supplied are as fresh as possible.

Re: How To Set Up The Ultimate Listening Station Using Google Reader

Hi Colin.
